Sustainable concrete at Molenstraat

In the Molenstraat in Wielsbeke, the old buildings of art furniture Lefèvre are making way for a contemporary residential project. Devagro was responsible for the production and delivery of ready-mixed, ecological concrete for new floor slabs. This project was carried out on behalf of Vande Walle - Loontjens BV, which is the construction promoter and main contractor. For the polishing work, Bouwwerken Jacques Vermeersch was called in. Vlaemynck Vastgoed was responsible for the sale. Our Deva Heroes could count on smooth cooperation with the various parties.

Eco2Concrete

At Devagro, we highly value sustainability. With our Eco2Concrete, where we partially or fully replace primary, natural raw materials with certified high-quality A+ concrete aggregates, we are a forerunner in our industry. Recycled and washed concrete aggregates were also used in this project.

A total of about 300 m³ of concrete was delivered. Normally this accounts for about 500 tons of natural raw materials. By using recycled material, we reduce this to only 230 tons of primary materials. In this way we reduce the waste mountain of concrete rubble and at the same time contribute to less extraction of primary raw materials. Thus, with this project we are once again contributing to the circular economy.

A unique, ecological approach

The use of eco concrete is unique in itself. The choice to polish this concrete is certainly not obvious today. This is because during polishing, the concrete is very fluid, which increases the risk of dirty particles floating to the surface.

By immersing the concrete granulate in a bath after the production process, we eliminate as many dirty substances as possible, such as wood and plastic waste. This still allows smooth polishing without any waste being visible. The end result is therefore indistinguishable from a normal concrete mix, and we are proud of that!

Residence Lefèvre

The ecological slabs will form the basis of Residence Lefèvre, a contemporary residential project in the center of Wielsbeke. A total of 12 apartments, 1 house, 14 garage boxes with green roof and 10 parking spaces will be provided. Quality and energy-efficient living are central to this project. We are proud that we can contribute to this beautiful project.
