An ambitious mission
With a contract sum of one million euros in their hands, the client enlisted Devagro's years of expertise for the earth moving, demolition and infrastructure work. Devagro was up and running with a coordination meeting in their office where the client, the surveyor, the engineering firm and the appointed industrial builders put their heads together for a successful outcome.
Devagro executed the works entirely in-house, according to a tight timing. Result? The job was completed in its entirety in 100 working days.
Major demolition works
The total area of the site amounted to some 36,000 m² of pavement, including parking and unloading quays. With the necessary caution, Devagro concentrated first and foremost on the demolition of the 30,000 m² of industrial buildings, covered with corrugated sheets containing asbestos. This job was completed without any problems, thanks in part to the thorough plan of action drawn up by the employees in function of maximum recycling. Thus, the various waste streams were mapped out in advance and put to maximum use in the construction of the new site, reducing the cost of the demolition and infrastructure works by €50,000.
Maximum circularity requires optimal recycling
Devagro thinks about the future. Several raw materials were given a new purpose.
- The stone rubble was crushed on site and screened for appropriate grain size.
- The durable concrete aggregates were used as raw material in recycled road and foundation concrete through the concrete plant in Desselgem.
- The mixed aggregates provided the foundation for new buildings.
The foundation construction was also adjusted according to a balanced raw material usage. Therefore, there were no shortages or surpluses of recycled raw materials.
Efficient infrastructure
Devagro then bent over the construction of perforated sewers where the rainwater penetrates the surrounding infill soil. The choice of appropriate, high-quality materials made expensive infiltration cloths and backfill granules unnecessary. Result? A savings of €20,000 on infrastructure works.
Expertise
Devagro's surveyors convert all execution plans in-house into digital terrain models, which in turn control the powerful machines. This way, digital land surveying and machine controls contribute to an efficient execution of the works and complete transparency towards the architect and machine operator.
We would like to thank all parties, and the client in particular, for a pleasant and smooth cooperation.
