Concrete production accounts for about 8% of man-made CO2 emissions worldwide. At Devagro, we have been working hard for years to reduce this impact. One example is our innovative Polycon binder, produced with geopolymers. This concrete offers significant CO2 reduction and has already been successfully applied in several projects. Unfortunately, polymers are not yet included in regulations, so this type of concrete cannot be brought home under current certification or standards. Therefore, we are now going one step further.
Devagro is investing in a new technology that makes it possible to produce completely CO2-neutral concrete that meets the strictest standards. In addition, the plant offers flexibility to reduce CO2 emissions from existing concrete recipes, fully tailored to the customer's wishes and needs. And all at a competitive cost.
Exactly how all this will work remains a surprise for now. What can be shared is that the first quarter of 2025 will serve to put this innovation in place. This preparation will lay the foundation for a successful implementation, so that the new technology can be fully operational in the second quarter of 2025.
